Painting Cherry Blossoms at Brandywine Park, DE with Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic

Cherry Blossom Petals Add Deminsion to Plein Air Paintings.

It was a beautiful day with bright sun shining in a beautiful blue sky, rendering great light on these endeared Cherry Trees at Josphine Park/Fountain in the Brandywine Park of Wilmington DE. Petals blowing like snowflakes joined paintings and palettes.

Here are a few scenes of trees and artists.  We did not get photos of Martha Pileggi and Marcy Wheeler who painted this day.

Zwaanendael Park, Lewes, DE

The Zwaanendael Museum was built in 1931 to commemorate Delaware's first settlement, Swanendael which was established by the Dutch in 1631. It features two floors where visitors can experience Lewes area's maritime, military, and social history.

Since it was tulip time in Lewes, the PAPMA though it a great time of the year to visit this complex to paint.  A good site to start the 2015 year.

Maria intended to complete her painting from 2013.

Plein Air Painters of Mid-Atlantic 2014 Delaware Byways & Treasures Exhibition

The culmination the 2014 painting season ended with a wonderful exhibit:
Delaware Byways & Treasures Exhibition held at the Dover Art League, 21 W Loockerman Street, Dover De, October 29 through November 26, 2014.

The 2104 painting theme represent alterntive less traveled routes where you find ponds, bays, rivers and significan treasures.  The artists, with paints, brushes & equipment, produced paintings "en" plein air, that tell a story of heritage, recreation and beauty of Delaware.  Many sites are also identifried as National Historic Places, on the Delaware Outdoor Trail, Delaware Birding Trail, Delaware's History Trail and Delaware's Byways.

Great help was provided by artist member Martha Pileggi. Together Maria and Martha hung 89 paintings, arranged the outdoor window case and display case with props and information relating to plein air painting and our 2014 painting adventures.

Here are a few images of the exhibit and reception:

Catching Up the Falll Season of PAPMA's Year 2014

Here is an update on the Fall 2014 Plein Air Painting Sites and Artists

October 29, 2014
Governor's Walk, Milton, DE
Located in the heart of this riverside community, this looping trail honors the five local residents who served as state governors (four Delaware – one Wyoming). More importantly, it introduces the interested visitor to the rich history and architectural treasures of this former center of shipbuilding and maritime commerce.
